Deputy Lands Minister, Forestry Commission Board storm Accra Zoo after lion killed man

Following a meeting between the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Forestry Commission Board on Wednesday, 31st August 2022, the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources responsible for Lands and Forestry, Benito Owusu-Bio together with the Board on Thursday, September 1, 2022, paid a working visit to the Accra Zoo.


.



He asked the Board and Management of the Commission to as a matter of necessity erect  a “high fence wall” to wade off intruders.


The Deputy Minister used his visit to also interact with staff of the Zoo and encouraged them not to live in fear, but rather they should work hard for the benefits of themselves, the Commission and the country at large.

Plans, according to the Commission, are also in place to provide uniform for staff and visitor tags for easy identification.


The Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Lands and Forestry, Francis Manu Adabor,  at the meeting said the time has come for the Forestry Commission to market the Achimota Zoo like that of Sancity in South Africa.


He also called on the Commission to “make good use of the Accra Zoo”.

Crocodiles stranded in Sissala - Severe drought hits water habitat

  Crocodiles are totems for some groups of people in Northern Ghana, particularly in the Sissala enclave of the Upper West Region. The people revere the crocodiles and, therefore, protect them from any harm. Aside the belief system, these reptiles have also put the area on the world tourism map. In fact, the Sissala enclave's contribution to tourism through these reptiles is legendary. The communities where these reptiles are found are Taffiasi, Bujan, Nabugujan, Gwollu Wuljua and Duu East, all in the Sissala West District, as well as the Sissala East Municipality. Side Chick Stabbed Cheating Husband

  The Police at Adenta in the Greater Accra Region are holding a young Ghanaian lady known on Instagram as Safina Diamond for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend. According to reports, Safina Diamond stabbed her boyfriend who just came back from Canada weeks ago multiple times in the neck and stomach leading to his death. It’s unclear what led to the incident as the Police have not officially stated reason for the action. the Report said the lady took the action allegedly in self-defence as she is currently being held by the Adenta Court. Unconfirmed reports indicated that the deceased is a married man, who left his wife to meet the suspect, who also has a boyfriend. Further reports indicated that the two persons, Safina, and her boyfriend have been remanded into police custody and the case adjourned to August, 12th, 2022.
