Singapore police have seized about S$1bn ($735m; £578m) - including luxury homes, cars and watches - in one of its biggest anti-money laundering probes.

Gold bars, designer handbags, wine and S$23m in cash were among the items seized in the raids. Police arrested ten people in the operation, all of whom held foreign passports. Raids of this size are rare in Singapore, which has one of the lowest crime rates in the world. The Singapore Police Force said in a statement that simultaneous raids were held across the city-state on Tuesday. Stop illegal mining along Birim River-Cecilia Abena Dapaah

The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah has called on residents living around the intake point of the Oda Water Treatment Plant and the Birim River in the Eastern Region to desist from illegal mining to avoid polluting the river. The minister who was obviously not happy about the way the River instead of remaining colourless had turned brownish and muddy, warned that “If we do not stop protecting our water bodies posterity would judge us.” She made the call during an official tour of the intake point of the Water treatment plant at Oda on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.   Benito Owusu-Bio The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, responsible for Lands and Forestry, Benito Owusu-Bio, has disclosed that 72% of seedlings planted during the 2022 Green Ghana tree planting exercise has survived. This statistic he said is according to a report submitted to the Lands Ministry by the Forestry Commission detailing the verification assessment of trees planted during the years under review. The Deputy Minister revealed this when he took a tour of the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday, 28th March, 2023 to monitor seedlings planted by associations, institutions, the Ministry and the Forestry Commission during the Green Ghana Project. Crocodiles stranded in Sissala - Severe drought hits water habitat

  Crocodiles are totems for some groups of people in Northern Ghana, particularly in the Sissala enclave of the Upper West Region. The people revere the crocodiles and, therefore, protect them from any harm. Aside the belief system, these reptiles have also put the area on the world tourism map. In fact, the Sissala enclave's contribution to tourism through these reptiles is legendary. The communities where these reptiles are found are Taffiasi, Bujan, Nabugujan, Gwollu Wuljua and Duu East, all in the Sissala West District, as well as the Sissala East Municipality. Drought  However, the lives of these crocodiles are under serious threat as the ponds and pools that serve as thier habitats are drying up.
